Louie’s Italian Restaurant & Bar
Celebrates Italian Fare With Neighborhood Appeal
Italian cuisine is known for its depth and variety of flavors, fresh ingredients, and classic comfort. Its diverse appeal, from tastes and textures to styles and regions, make Italian cuisine a family favorite. When Ron Rosa introduced Louie’s Italian Restaurant & Bar, in 2008, he set out to capture the essence of his favorite Brooklyn neighborhood restaurants from his childhood. This Italian restaurant located in Cos Cob, Connecticut embodies just this; a classic family style Italian restaurant that pays tribute to Rosa’s favorite Uncle Louie, for whom the restaurant is named.

Executive Chef Luis Mendoza, a native of Ecuador, is a 35-year industry veteran formally trained in Italy. From the kitchens of New York's most infamous Italian restaurants including Il Cortili, and Ron Rosa’s Ecco and Campagnola, Mendoza brings the authentic flavors of Italy to Connecticut. The menu is inspired by time-honored dishes and ingredients found in small trattorias and homes across the region. With an emphasis on handmade pastas, fresh fish, veal, and poultry cooked true to the spirit of Italy; the kitchen crafts a full flavored style of cuisine that is respectful of tradition and appeals to patron’s sense of nostalgia. Dishes like Caprese Salad, Fried Calamari, Chicken Parmigiana, and Shrimp Scampi, are patron favorites, as well as, one-of-a-kind entrees, such as, Veal Pizzaiola, Salmon Adriatico and Chicken Porto Fino. The extensive wine list offers well known Italian vintners along with a selection of boutique winemakers.

The restaurant offers a rustic and inviting atmosphere adorned with hand-painted colorful art showcasing views of the Mediterranean region and Portugal, where the artist hails from. It encompasses rich wood interiors, elegant white linen tables and a reclaimed brick fireplace. A central bar builds a synergy between the dining and waiting areas. Louie’s is the creation of longtime restaurant operator Ron Rosa, of Ron Rosa’s Polpo Restaurant and Saloon in Greenwich, CT with partner Tony Lagournais. Like its sister restaurant, Polpo, Louie’s impeccable service, attention to detail and family friendly price points, keep patron’s returning.
